Hi Colleagues, Some of you may have seen this before but I feel that this 99 year old has something to tell us all.Despite his unhappy beginings he was able to get over feelings of hate and be happy.Perhaps, that is his secret of a long life. Sometimes someone may make a life so miserable that hate becomes the only expression of suffering. But, according to this man hate kills the soul. There is a message in his words for all. Eddie.
Dear Eddie,
Thank you for this wonderful post. I have heard it earlier but it is lovely to read it the second time round. I admire his tenacity and the ability to forgive forget and get along as a happily married man of 99 years and married for 73 years. That is remarkable. Thank you for reminding us of all the virtues of smiling and forgiving qualities that make us happy. His speech is a fine example that you do not need money to be happy..good friends are worth more than money.

Thank you for sharing this Eddie. A simple speech with profound meaning. As we listen to this now hate and destruction is perpetrated around the world.
Look at what happened to George Floyd here in the US.A police officers hate and anger took the life of a young man creating utter chaos Rioting looting assaults are going on in major cities right now in the US. I do not see any relief of this kind of violence in the foreseeable future. I am petrified at the thought of what our grandkids will have to face in their future .

Thanks for posting this clip with a simple message to humanity, particularly in the context of what is happening in the US. I agree with Nisantha.

Dear colleagues, Thank you all for your comments after listening to the old man.It is nice to know that there are good people too in this wicked world.I am also perturbed viewing the video circulating on the net about this unfortunate “black” man.We must remember that the last” black lynching” was as late as the 1980s.!! and that when we were in medical school(1964) there was separation and discrimination of people of colour in USA.It is only 56 years and even the new generations are still tainted.I am of the opinion that the mistrust and hatred breeds in the homes of the culprits. It is the children who can make a difference to racial inequality in the future, ONLY if their minds are not polluted by their parents. This pandemic must remind us that the unexpected may happen any time.Let us hope for a better life for our children and grand children.Keep well, keep safe. Eddie.
Thanks Eddie, for sharing this very moving story.
