Thanks Sam for your post. There appear to be quite a few among us who love Hindi songs.!.Especially by the nightingale of Hindi cinema, Lata Mangaeshkar .In this video the orchestra is very professional with many musicians in harmony. If not for the lyrics in English and the background of the film in which it was played, I would not have guessed that it was a love song.!
I was introduced to Hindi songs by an Indian friend who cherished listening to them over and over again. One duo that interested me was Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh. They were great together.I think Jagjit died suddenly soon after their only son died in a motor vehicle accident.(? Broken heart syndrome ).They were both heart broken.Chitra Singh never sang again. She was a very talented singer and the melodies really portrayed the depth of feeling although the words were incomprehensible to me .!,I shall try and post one sometime for the benefit of lovers of Hindi songs.
Thanks for the comment, Eddie. I was most impressed by the vast number of musicians in the orchestra, certainly more than what you would see in modern-day music back up even in classical music recordings. I wonder with modern digital amplification it would have been different.
