Sad news!

It is with much sadness that we announce the demise today of Professor Carlo Fonseka at the age of 86 years.

He was a renowned Academic, Professor Emeritus of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Colombo, Former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya and Former President of the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC).

There will not be a formal funeral as his body was handed over to the Ragama Medical Faculty as per his wishes.

HI Sam,
Thanks for the post on Dr Carlo Fonseka .

Please be kind enough to post this photo on the web page with the following

The photo taken in Colombo at Zavahir Concert last year, in October – 2018 .
Carlo and Pearly- they are both relatives of mine – from my father’s side,
from the village of Seeduwa , near Negombo .

Zava – it was great that you gave me the opportunity meet with Carlo and
Pearly last year , when they were The Chief Guests at your concert  last
year  .
He was quite the admirer of you  and your singing and never missed any of
your concerts . You will surely miss him this year at BMICH Concert in
October this year .

Thanks – Deepthie .

  4. Nice pic Deepthie.
I have never met the man but he was a very special and prominent Sri Lankan in many spheres of activity.I remember the time he was actively involved in explaining and demonstrating the physiological basis of “ fire walking “.He was many things to many people, but I remember him most as an LSSP er and a rationalist and more recently as a vocal critic of private medical education.!!( I do not agree with this).
A good innings by a special Sri Lankan.May his soul RIP.
