Three of us visited Chandra on he 27 th October. We experienced a moment of great happiness ,when our dear colleague Chandra “ MOUTHED” our Names as we entered the room. With the help of Dear Rohini,’s ability toLIP READ we were able to engage in an interactive , non verbal communication withChandra.
, for about half an our, recalling past events, our time in Hong Kong etc
Words Can’t express our appreciation and gratitude to dear Rohini for the untiring , Physical. Emotional, Spiritual, palliative support provided to Chandra on a daily basis for the past eight years.
Thereafter spent a few hours of quality time with Rohini exchanging views over a cup of tea and goodies.
It was an unforgettable day of “GIFT OF PRESENCE” with CHANDRA.
Hi, This video simulates a scenario waiting to happen.Drones are cheap and many have access.Already, wedding planners, real estate agents and peeping Toms are using it every day.Not too long before it progresses to robbery.! Eddie.
Having returned back to UK I would like to write a few words about our wonderful get together.
It was wonderful to see old friends and catch up with them. My grateful thanks go to Faizal for his wonderful performance in providing lovely music for us to dance and have a good time and also to all our friends in SL, Australia, Canada New Zealand US and UK for all their efforts in making this a success. We are very grateful to Sam for his web and his efforts in organising Eden Hotel. His web has enabled us to communicate with friends living far and wide. Our sincere thanks go to to Annesley too, whose book helped us to collect money for Rodrigo ( Accounts later ).After the RU 12 of us went to Paiskuda and had a great time. Ranjit returned home a few days later on the 13th as he had to report back to work but I stayed in SL till the 20th as I wanted to go with Rani and her friends to Wilpattu. This was wonderful as we saw many animals and huge herds of elephants in Kaudulla.
On the night of the Dinner dance I circulated a piece of paper giving the exact accounts but unfortunately I did not get this back. So from memory I am writing down the expenses.
From the last RU Lucky and RA had a balance of RS 63000 and this was handed over . From this RS 60,000 was given to Sam to pay 30000 for the DJ ( 15000 per night ) and 30000 for the maintenance of the Blog. The balance RS 3000 was put in to the pool for Rodrigo.
Annesleys book and contribution to the Blog brought in RS 109000. Thank you all for your generosity as I never envisaged collecting this amount of money. To this was added the balance 3000 handed over from the last RU making a total of RS 112000.
I was informed by the Hotel, on the day of departure that RS 10000 had to be paid for the use of two microphones by Dharma. So Rs 10,000 was paid for this bringing the total amount to RS 102 000. This amount was given to Lucky to be handed over to Rodrigo’s wife.
As I mentioned earlier I did not get back the paper I circulated at the RU with the exact accounts so I am writing these from memory.
Thank you everyone for your participation and and your generosity.
Some of you have mentioned that we should have a RU next year to celebrate 50 years since graduation, so please keep the fist weekend of next year free for another good reunion. Hope all of you would join. The venue can be decided later but please keep the weekend free.
Sanskrit is the oldest language in the world .The Rig Vedic hymns, the Upanishads, the Gita were all orally transmitted and finally written down, in Sanskrit. It is a language with a melodic timbre with hardly any guttural sounds. The Sinhala language has its roots in Sanskrit and this accounts for many Sanskrit words sounding familiar to us.

Passekuda Trip .
Many thanks to Praxy and Rani for organising this real fun bus trip to
We had a great drive in the rain , on Sunday morning . This did not
prevent us from having a good time in the bus .
Faisal Zavahir very kindly gave us three Cd’s + a set of song sheets to go
with it specially done for the bus trip ,of the songs he sang at the
Friday night BBQ dinner .
Praxy kept time with the little symbols – we all had a great sing along .
Then, there was a loud card game at the front of the bus ,while those
sleepyheads at the back took a nap, despite the noise in the front !
We stopped for a bit of lunch on the way and I had my very first Lion
Larger- as Damayanthie told me, ‘ drink it Deepthie – I tell you, it is good
! ” so I trusted her and had my first sip ,and the rest is history . !
Then we reached Passekuda a bit late into the evening- due to the rain
all along the drive up there .
Saturday morning – Voila !!- The sun came out and so did we , and the
sun was with us, till we left on Tuesday morning .
What did we do ?
Just R and R !!– Went for beach walks, , boat rides, talked with local
fisher men, and generally had Fun in The Island In The Sun !
I will send a video clip of the Sing Along in the Bus — – if I can get it
across to Sam .
In the meantime, just enjoy the photos .
Oh by the way- the guys convinced me to drink Pol Arrakku- ” It is good
for you Deepthie – take a sip ” so said Gaspar and Shauket . The sweet
mild taste was confirmed by Damayanthie – my trusty room mate for 4
nights- at Eden and Amaya .
Again- the Rest is History !!
Eagle in The Island in the Sun .

I came across the website below recently. I am not sure if you or any other batch mates have seen it before. But it appears to be full of ‘useful’ historical info.
If you feel its something worth posting on the web, please do so.
Thank you very much for your efforts to keep the web going and for helping organise the recent RU. I had not intended to attend it for personal reasons, but having attended, it opened my eyes (yet again) to what a wonderful bunch of people (human beings) our batch is.
With best wishes,
