One of the most popular songs, in our young days
Has not lost its appeal and with pictures more sumptuous
Though a septuagenarian eyes, could not focus on the bike
How wonderful it would have been to meet the rider, in our teens!
What a contrasting view you’ve expressed to mine
We both describe the same object, a delightful desire
To my eyes, has become in your view, a mere distraction
Probably ‘the beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ is proven
Dear Eddie
Some one sent this to me sometime back but even this second time round it is very enjoyable .it is always a song that makes people get up and dance 💃🏼🕺🏽💃🏼🕺🏽👯♀️especially our Baila Kumari aka 🦅 Deepthie aka Bonsai nona.I can still remember that day when so many people had taken wadakaha to become fairer . Nice one Eddie .Thanks for posting it .Praxy
I think wherever you are Babi achchi and the bicycle. 🚴♀️🚵🏿♂️🚴♀️ will never never be fogotten . I doubt 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ if the present generation will ever enjoy this sort of Baila we enjoyed😊😊😌.Praxy
Thank you, Ariya, Simone, Nisantha , Seelan and Praxy, for your comments.
Like most burghers of Ceylon, Desmond Kelly too left for Australia.Did you all notice the old cars of the sixties in Australia when Holden was very popular.? What about the Policeman, Are they any different now? Did you notice, Babiarchie’s bicycle, it is the old version for ladies, now there is no difference !,.As for the pretty Babiarchie, you may find her in one of the resthomes in Perth.Thank you, we have still not lost our sense of humour.
P.S. Bicycles should be the mode of transport in the future. No pollution,(No green house effect, less methane) apart from the daily mandatory gaseous emissions from the cyclists.!! Eddie.
Oh Eddie
If bicycles were the mode of transport for the future I will end up waking as I can’t ride a 🚲 bike😭😭😭😭😭. My father was very strict and he did not believe in females riding bikes so poor me never had a bike and as a result I can’t ride ☝️ one now ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️Praxy
Thanks Eddie for the lovely post on the old song of Babi Achchi !
I have seen this before when I was googling around Desmond Kelly with the Wadakaha sudiya song .
This song is a magnet that attracts me to the dance floor and by golly- I will be on that dance floor for sure for ALL the Bailas that come our way in Beruwala !
By the way- we Good Convent Girls- like my good friend Praxy – were really not permitted to ride bicycles back then .
Only my brother had a bike – and we three girls had no bikes, and no shorts, no swim suits , no short skirts !
That is why I wore sari for all the 5 yrs I was in med school, from Day One !
I learned to ride a bike in Canada, at the age of 32 , when I was a real MOM and had to take my kids to after school activities – like swimming, soccer. ballet , etc on their bikes – or even to the local park, community garden, library and swimming pool .
I did not know how to drive either !
So we all went on our bikes- mine was an old second hand ladies Raleigh ! that cost me the princely sum of $ 20 .
It was real fun to see how easily a man can be distracted – even the Police Officer .
Love the fury of the old lady, and the lad mowing the lawn . !- not to mention the kid hanging on a branch for dear life—
Moral of The Story —-Beware of the Eye of the Beholder !!
Thanks Eddie,
