Street Vendor- Ariya

Street vendor

If you were born,

With a silver spoon in the mouth

Will never know the harshness of life,

Nor the helplessness of the penniless

Air she breathes in

And nearby rivulets, waters flowing

Hot humid breeze and parching Sunlight,

Just about all, what she is freely getting

Her hunger is not quasi, but real

The haves do not know; it is unbearable

For her to receive such a harsh life

And nothing but the darkness to prevail throughout

Nature has been unfair and cruel

Two children at home one more on the way

Good for nothing husband is a lazy slob,

He only knows to drink and quarrel,

Four hungry mouths to feed,

From dawn till dusk, she is in a lonely battle

Standing in hot sun,

Each day ten hours or more

Selling few lychees not a huge profit, only a pittance

Attends to the kids and to the drunken master, at home

There’s no justice, no fairness at all

Please be generous, if ever you pass, her stall
